Burning Questions
Which is the correct burner for my Firepit?
Each burner has been fitted and tested to ensure compatibility. When deciding on which Kelray Firepit is best for you, you will see the list of compatible burners available on each model page.
Most notable: HPC Fire uses 304 Stainless Steel for burners Warming-Trends users brass.
Which Ignition System should I choose?
Push Button or Match lit? Thermocouples?
Ignition systems are an individual choice, however adding safety features such as a push button ignition, or a thermocouple pilot light will allow your firepit to operate at a higher BTU output, while still maintaining CSA certification.
Match lit ignition systems are the entry point, and are limited to 65k BTU's, for both Natural Gas and Liquid Propane
Upgrading to a Push Button ignition system, particularly in conjunction with a thermocouple pilot light, allows the BTU output to dramatically increase. Up to 90k+ BTU's on Liquid Propane, and even higher on Natural Gas. See the Output rating on each Gas Burner model for more details!
Kelray Firepits do not currently support Electric Ignition Systems due to the space requirements to mount the ignition hardware.
Why do I need a CSA approved Burner?
Selecting a CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved gas burner is important for several key reasons:
1. Safety Assurance
CSA approval indicates that the gas burner has undergone rigorous testing and meets stringent safety standards. This helps minimize the risk of accidents, such as gas leaks or fire hazards, ensuring a safer environment for both residential and commercial use.
2. Regulatory Compliance
In many regions, local laws and regulations require the use of CSA-approved equipment. Using a CSA-approved gas burner ensures compliance with these regulations, helping to avoid potential legal issues or fines.
3. Quality and Reliability
CSA certification is a mark of quality and reliability. Products with this approval are typically manufactured to high standards, providing better performance and longevity compared to non-certified alternatives.
4. Confidence
CSA approval enhances user confidence. It assures you that the product has been independently tested and meets recognized standards, which can be a decisive factor in purchasing decisions.
5. Insurance Requirements
Insurance companies often require the use of CSA-approved appliances. Using a certified gas burner can help in securing insurance coverage and potentially lower insurance premiums.
6. Energy Efficiency
CSA-approved gas burners are often designed to be more energy-efficient. This not only reduces environmental impact but can also lead to significant cost savings on fuel over time.
Liquid Propane and Natural Gas
Kelray Firepits can be run on either Liquid Propane or Natural Gas. When choosing your Burner and Ignition System, you will be asked which if you want NP or LP attachments.
